Investigators Notes

Christina Anderson:I feel extremely privileged to have had the experience of investigating this unique and very historical property. The proprietress has taken great care in the maintenance, preservation, and the research into the past of this place. She has extensive knowledge regarding the family that built it, and has kept it in magnificent shape. It dates back to just before the civil war, with the front portion of the home having been added near the turn of the century.
While the evening was fairly quiet, there were a couple of notable exceptions. While completing an EVP session in the upstairs private bedroom, the EMF detector we were using registered an increase of .3 to .5 milligauss near the bed. A thorough sweep of the room had been performed prior to beginning the session, with no unusual spikes. The EMF detector went back to normal shortly afterwards. This occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m.
Another notable occurrence was as we made our way from the kitchen in the rear of the house on the bottom floor to the front parlor. Near the front staircase, the EMF detector began to have increases of .3, .4, and .5 milligauss followed by a swift drop back to 0. These were later attributed to an electrical line that ran under the floor in the same area.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., after we had packed up for the evening and climbed into our beds, one investigator reported hearing a “tapping” sound that seemed to come from the room I stayed in with another investigator. While I did not hear the tapping noise, there were some whispering sounds within my room. Unfortunately, as all the equipment had been packed up, we were unable to capture any data on this.
One thing that we all noticed was the change in the “feel” of rooms. The kitchen, while outwardly cheerful, spacious, and bright, seemed to make me feel very anxious. The Parlor, although full of Victorian-era knickknacks, furnishings, and busy wallpaper, did just the opposite. It felt inviting and comforting. While this is certainly not any evidence of paranormal activity, it was enough to make an impression on me.
Overall, this was a very quiet investigation in a wonderful place. I hope to one day return…as a customer.

Becky Ray:Big thank you to Cate for opening up her B&B to us for this investigation opportunity.
Overall, this felt like a very quiet investigation, nothing major going on except for a few unexplained EMF blips. However, upon reviewing our audio several EVPs were found. Additionally, when I returned for the "Dinner and Haunt" class on March 28 another event took place which made me re-examine something that happened during our initial investigation.
During the class, it was discovered that the two cats were setting off the EMF meters. I initially thought this must be simply static, but no one else could get static to trigger the meters. It was then we remembered that during our initial investigation the cat named Jack seemed to be responding to what we were saying regarding a window in an upstairs bedroom. I don't know what that means, but it was very odd.
Later neither cat would set the meters off, I have yet to find a logical explanation for this.
I'm looking forward to returning in May for the second class!

Jennifer Sprague:First I want to say thank you to the owner for letting us come out to do an investigation, her knowledge of the history and hospitality were wonderful and the decor of the place was amazing! Id also like to thank the newspaper for their interview and for taking the time out to ask us questions on what it is that we do and being interested in us as a group. On this investigation I mainly took notes. Overall, it was a fairly quiet evening. We started towards the back of the house, worked our way upstairs, then did the dining room and living room area and the retreated up stairs to our rooms. There were no notable occurrences with any of the equipment except one occurrence in the living room which was explained by underground wiring. An interesting note, even though it was a fairly quiet investigation, there were some relatively interesting evps captured by Christina and those should be posted soon!
