Location History
As we all learned in basic science class, sound cannot travel in a vacuum. There are several hypothesis about how EVPs are formed and it is clearly and area that is open for debate, so this experiment is to attempt to determine if EVPs are created acoustically or by another cause, perhaps from any EMF generated by the recorders circuitry.
Investigators Notes
Becky Ray:We had previous played with the Bell Jar to see if we could get a complete seal with a hand vacuum pump, and we cannot. However we decided to go ahead and do our first experiment using this so we had somethings to compare.
On this night we placed a digital recorder in the jar (not suspended) and sealed it. We asked a few questions and turned on an EM pump next to the jar. We then asked a few more questions before releasing the vacuum and listening to the recorder.
Our results were as expected with no obvious EVP. We will be further reviewing the audio from the recorder, and the audio from the video camera to compare the two.
Jennifer Sprague:I look forward to trying this experiment again once we can seal the jar properly. So far we have gotten expected results, with what he have, but need to get the correct attachment to make it work. I look forward to possibly maybe combining this experiment with the Devil's Toy Box experiment we did previously. I also look forward to trying this experiment in places where we have gotten a lot of EVPS to see if we can capture EVPS while the recorder is in the jar. If we do we can rule out that EVPS are caused by sound waves.
