Bryan Kaplan:For me it was a strange experience. When we got to the top floor in the very beginning I felt uneasy, at what I'm not sure. Post that tour I and Jennifer decided to do some E.V.P. work during which I heard some knocking noises coming from the closet area that is on the front side of the house (on the other side of the closet is the front of the house). I have no way to verify that this is paranormal, still interesting nonetheless. I also had an overall weak and unbalanced feeling in the master bedroom. After about 20 minutes or so that feeling left me. I have some video and audio to go through, hopefully there will be something present there!
Beth McLenaghan:I enjoyed the time I spent investigating in this beautiful home. In two different parts of the home, I heard whispering. Once, in the library on the main floor, and twice in the section off the master bedroom which was to become the new master bath. I got a few light "dust orbs" in the quick job I did of going through my photos. Will go through them more thoroughly and post if there's anything additional.
Hugh McLenaghan:This was an interesting house, but again, I didn't have any feelings or anything happen to me during this investigation.
Becky Ray:This was a fairly quiet investigation, for me at least. The home owner has some interesting photos she has collected, and some very interesting stories of things that have happened to people while in this home. However nothing of note happened in my presence during the evening.
Jennifer Sprague:I was very excited to join these great guys on my first investigation! It was my first time seeing how they went about doing their investigations, so it was very much a learning experience for me. I mainly did my investigation, which mainly consisted of evp work, with Bryan up in the bedroom. It was reported that there was some activity in that room with disembodied voices and other phenomena. It was about 9:00 p.m. or so when Bryan and I started investigating this room. Initially, in the beginning both of us seemed to have 'sensed' various things, but those feelings were quickly fleeting. I believed at one time I heard a low gutteral sigh of sorts, and I believed that at one point, I saw a shadow move over by a wall. Most of those things, however, were not recorded and I caught no evidence of anything in any of my pictures or on my recorder. Whether I truly experienced those things and they were something 'paranormal' I do not know for sure, but I do believe there could be a plausible explanation for what I experienced. Overall, I had a great time with everybody and I look forward to going on more investigations!
Miranda Stark:The client contacted PAI with concerns for the things she, and other people, had been experiencing in her home for the last four years, since they'd moved in, in 2002. Firstly she described dark, shadowy apparitions that move very quickly across the room. She described a particular room in the house, where she was always battling a large abundance of flies. She explained that there had been strange behaviors of her cats, as they seem to be seeing, or sensing a presence that she could not. And bangings in the ceiling overhead in one room on the first level. One thing that she did explain to us, was an instance where she had been in bed one night trying to sleep and was startled by what she believes were voices, and a strong wind moving over her. This sounds very much like what is called "astral catelepsy", where people sometimes have an out-of-body experience and awake themselves as their spirits are in the process of re-entering the body. One can experince feelings of paralysis, the sensations of being held down, and even experience visual and auditory hallucinations as they are not completely awake yet. I believe the client has described this quite accurately. As we commenced with our investigation process, we closely examined all of the areas where activity had been reported, as we attempted to rationalize these occurrances for the client. Everything she had reported was able to be explained by non-paranormal means. The flies were coming into the room through an open, uncovered doggie-door, and the room contained that cats' litter box, and food dishes. This will attract flies. The shadow like apparitions were explained when we examined the light fixtures up above and noticed the mass of dead insects that had been caught up under the glass. A buzzing insect within a light fixture can definitely give off odd looking shadows that move in very fast and unpredictable patterns as they are being projected onto the room. The animal behaviors, again can be attributed to an insect issue in the home. We inspected the utility room (containing the laundry machines, a sink, and a toilet) where the banging noises were reported to be coming from the ceiling. Upon moving one of the tile pieces of the drop ceiling to the side, we were able to see up into the small space that contained the plumbing and water pipes that run right over that room. Plumbing can often be responsible for banging and rapping noises. I, personally, do not feel at this time, that there is anything worth labeling "paranormal" occurring within this residence. We may wish to re-visit the home in attempt to monitor the environment once again for the possibility of a paranormal presence, but I do not feel that this client has any reason to fear her home.
