This staircase is just a short walk from the main entrance of the former hotel. The story says that a former hotel guest either fell or was pushed down these stairs to her demise. Many people who have worked in the building have reported smelling her "jasmine" perfume, and some say they have even seen her on the stairs.
When first built, this was called "the largest swimming pool in Illinois." Although the hotel is now an antique mall, the pool is closed off to visitors. Allegedly, the spirit of a man who drown after an altercation with his wife is still present.
