Christina Anderson:First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to the Atchison Chamber of Commerce for asking us to come in and lead this investigation. I would also like to thank everyone that was involved with investigating this famous (or infamous!) home. This was the first time I had ever been to the Sallie House. I had heard of it previously, but had never had to opportunity to investigate it. The evening started off with activity. When all of the group had assembled in the living room and parlor area, there was a strange noise that sounded like it came from upstairs. Some people said it sounded like someone clearing their throat, while what I and others heard sounded more like a light chain being pulled. We could not find an explanation for this, and the noise did show up on the audio recording. Throughout the evening, cold spots were felt, particularly in the kitchen and master bedrooms. In the kitchen, several of us smelled a rotting garbage smell, but there was no identifiable source for that odor. Also, a strong floral smell was noticed in the master bedroom, but again, there was no clear explanation for it. Many of us heard very low level whispering throughout the evening, as well as taps and thuds that we couldn’t explain. We also had an EMF spike at the top of the basement stairs that could not be attributed to any wiring or appliances. Several EVP were captured. Overall, this was a very interesting evening, and I hope that we are able to visit again to conduct a more investigation.
Kelli Patrick:Equipment used: Night vision videocamera and temperature meter. I didn't feel or see anything during the investigation, except for a quick cold breeze felt against my cheek in the master bedroom. I was sitting next to a person on the bed along with a person standing next to me on my right. There were several others in the room as well. A couple of other people mentioned that a breeze went by them at the same time. A couple of people had been moving around, so I am not excited about the breeze I felt. A couple of times I smelled a citrus smell in the door way of the master bedroom, but always followed people in that room. The smell lasted a second each time, but can't prove it wasn't someone's perfume. The temp. gauge always read normal (60's-70's),but know my readings were reading surfaces of walls, etc. No significant temp. changes. video: video was taken in the "nursery" and was focused on a circle of stuffed animals. They didn't move. Nothing else was picked up on video (sound, video). I had thought I turned on the night vision at the beginning of recording, but I didn't get it totally set and no night vision done. There is a faint recording of a white stuffed animal in the left part of the screen, but it didn't move the entire night. No unusual sounds or anything else could be seen. With a breeze and the smell of citrus in the master bedroom, I didn't experience anything else.
Becky Ray:This investigation was for the Atchison Chamber of Commerce and was PAI leading a small group on a brief investigation of the location.
Personally, I found the house much more active than on our previous visit five years earlier. We experienced many things we could not explain including hearing footsteps walking up the stairs when we were all downstairs, different smells were noted, and several people experienced cold spots.
At one point while we were in the master bedroom, I saw a shadow person walking in a circle in what used to be the nursery. There were a few times we all heard loud thuds we could not explain.
Question: When did the phenomena start?
Answer: First reports were in the early 1990s, however it is possible activity was happening earlier and not discussed.
Question: Any cold spots?
Answer: Cold spots have been reported various places in the home, specifically in the kitchen area.
Question: Any physical attacks?
Answer: The family that lived in the home in the early 1990s reported numerous attacks of scratches appearing on the husband.
Question: How far back can you trace the history of the property?
Answer: The home was built around the turn of the century and most owners have been verified via property records.
Question: Have there been any deaths or violent occurances in the the property?
Answer: Three confirmed deaths in the home, possibly more.

One of the stories told about the house is how the stuffed animals would be placed in a circle in the nursery. We simulated this to try to get some sort of activity, but the animals were not touched. However, I did see a shadowy figure moving about in this room later in the evening. It appeared to be a man, but may have been a trick of light as there were several people trespassing outside of the house with flashlights, etc while we were inside.
