Come to the Main Street Galleria and check them out for yourself. Below is their stories. One of the most famous ghosts is Captain James D. McCardy, of the 7th Cavalry in Richmond, Virginia of the Confederate Army during the Civil War. His writing desk bearing his name is on display in the Galleria. The name plate on the desk, bears the Captain's name and the date 1861, Richmond Virginia. When the owner of Main Street Galleria purchased the Civil War era writing desk, she did not know that she had acquired more than just the desk. The ghost of Captain McCardy came with it. The Captain enjoys playing tricks on people, electricity turning on and off. The front door dead bolt unexpectedly locking during business hours. Many of the ladies feel his presence with unexplained goose bumps. Beno and Creola The building which houses Main Street Galleria was originally built in 1897. Beno and Creola Hillix originally owned the building. They lived upstairs and ran a pharmacy, soda fountain, and sold a variety of items on the main floor. The kids of Weston would come to the soda fountain and talk and have fun. Beno would stand at the pinball machine, smoke cigarettes and keep an eye on the kids. Once in awhile we smell the cigarette smoke, right where Beno stood at the pinball machine. Creola talks to us now and then, she seems worried about who is going and coming. ​ Investigators Notes ​ Jenny Kerr:It was a gorgeous full moon for the evening! We started off upstairs for the night and I took a few photos with flash, with no results of any anomalies. We then moved on to an EVP session which included audio recorded German questions which my son provided for us. We then moved downstairs into the candy/gift shop area and while I was standing on the backside of the candy counter looking towards the back of the shop. I distinctly saw either a shadow animal or shadow feet walk from the soda fountain area through a doorway at the back of the shop. The shadow was at floor level, very black and dense, and moved very swiftly. I took a few photos with flash, but with no results of any anomalies. We also went to the basement and conducted an EVP session which included the German audio. I did not record any EVP's through the evening, but played the German audio in different areas in hopes to get responses. ​ Jennifer Sprague:I'd like to thank Verna for allowing us to come out and investigate the Main Street Galleria Upstairs Tea Room! I'd also like to thank Eli and Valerie for joining us on this investigation. Eli and Valerie were guest participants in this investigation. This was Paranormal Activity Investigators second trip to the Main Street Galleria. On this investigation I was Lead Investigator. For equipment I brought my Olympus Audio Recorder. We split the investigation into three parts. We investigated each floor separately. We used three different types of experiments to see if we could heighten any paranormal activity. One experiment involved using audio references relating to the history of Weston as a city as well as audio references relating to the paranormal reports of the Galleria. Our other experiment was a green light grid. Before each EVP session we would play various audio recordings relating to the history of Weston as well as recordings and audio relating to those who are believed to reportedly haunt the Galleria. This audio experiment also included some questions spoken in German as it has been stated by various historians that Weston had a large German population at one time and during our last visit there a guest participant caught a German EVP on their audio recorder. We started upstairs first. No unusual spikes in EMF that we could not explain. After the EMF sweep was done we did our auditory experiment. We also began our EVP session and audio experiment and it was during this time that a table that Valerie was sitting at started to shake a little. Although an odd occurrence, it is important to note that a train passed through shortly before this happened. Although the train was still at a distance while it was passing through, there were just too many possible outside factors that could explain the table shaking the way it did. Somewhat of an odd occurrence, but nothing I would feel confident calling 100% paranormal. During our previous visit we saw some unexplainable shadows in the upstairs area. To try to capture evidence of that we set up a Motion Sensor Trail Camera in that area. After setting that up we went to investigate the downstairs area and set up an object control experiment. One of the reports of the Galleria is that various things would move and appear in different places. We used Valerie's keys to test the report out. We set up Becky's motion sensors around the keys as we went to the other side of the room away from the motion sensor to do our EVP/Audio experiment session. Strangely, after the first question was asked ( which happened to be in German) the motion sensor went off. This happened a few more times through out the EVP session. Because of this, we brought Sevren's Motion Trail Camera from upstairs and placed it downstairs to record that area while we then went back upstairs to do the laser grid experiment. It's important to note that during this time while we were upstairs many of us experienced our batteries being drained after being fully charged. We set up the green laser grid in the area where we saw an unexplained shadow last time. We noticed some strangeness at times with the grid, although that may be because it's battery also became drained, which made the lights on the grid appear dimmer at times. It was upstairs during this time when I believe I may have caught an EVP. I will post that in the Audio section soon. We then returned downstairs to do the grid experiment down there. Nothing unexplainable happened during that time. After that we then went to the basement and did some audio down there, too. I have reviewed all my data and will post my Audio soon. Others are still reviewing their audio and camera recordings and will post anything notable as soon as they are done reviewing. I'm interested in seeing the other findings of my group to see if any of what they found correlates with the EVP I captured upstairs or if they found anything similar in their review. I had the pleasure of staying in the Elsa Lemp Suite on the top floor of the mansion (otherwise known as the attic). For those familiar with the legend of "monkey boy," this room is next door. From my first arrival at the doorway to this room, I had a strong feeling that something was wrong. My EMF detector went wild in the doorway to the room every time I walked through the threshold until the time I entered to go to bed. It was quiet then. I fell asleep sometime between 3:00am and 3:30am, but was awakened around 4:00am by my bed shaking! It wasn't an exorcist shake, but more like someone standing next to it bumping it with their knee. It continued after I was awake until I sat up in bed to see if my video camera was still rolling. It wasn't, of course. This story has since been proven incorrect, however there have been stories about people hearing a dog running through and/or barking in the hallways of the mansion. For at least 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after this was recorded, the only sounds present are traffic driving by and the pedestal fan in the room. Very faintly at the beginning of this recording soft footsteps can be heard. What I hear next is either a door rattling, or perhaps a drawer being opened, or maybe even the old metal latches on a suitcase, followed by what I thought initially was a woman's laugh, then footsteps that fade. We attempted to take EMF readings while this was happening but noted not significant change. Shadow in the Attic - 11:57 PM this photo took several going overs before I noticed that the left side of the photo was obscured by a dark mist, or shadow. This is the only photo out of 144 taken by me that night to have this anomaly in it. At first I thought that maybe it was due to the lamp in the photo, but if you look, you'll see that this lamp is not turned on. The only light on in the room was the overhead light, and it fell evenly throughout the room. Barber Chair This is the barber chair in the William Lemp Suite. When two different female investigators sat in the chair it spun on its own. However when males would sit in it nothing would happen. The hospital situated on 2.3 acres in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. This 68,000 square foot medical facility, founded by four doctors, was known as the South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital (SPMH). Additions to the hospital were built prior to 1980. If you are interested in experiencing a haunted hospital firsthand or want to indulge in overnight ghost hunting, this is the place to be. This particular structure is located at what many call the "Foothill" of the South Pittsburg Mountain in Tennessee. In 1959, four medical professionals founded the facility and named it the "South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital" or "SPMH" for short. It consisted of a total of sixty-eight thousand square feet and was designed to meet the medical care needs of the growing community. Many physical additions to the haunted hospital were constructed throughout the next several decades. Unfortunately, the Old South Pittsburg Hospital was closed in 1998. The History of the Land To truly appreciate the paranormal activity associated with this haunted hospital, it is first essential to learn a little about the history of the land where the facility currently stands. One of the most distinctive characteristics of the property is a natural spring that runs underneath this haunted hospital. It runs directly into the Northwest region of the Tennessee River. It is because of this spring that many individuals throughout history were attracted to the area. In 1778, a Native American tribe used the land where the haunted hospital now stands for living and engaging in day-to-day activities that enhanced their survival. Examples of these activities included growing extravagant orchards, hunting for various types of animals native to the region, and fishing. By the end of the hot summer of 1863, the Union Soldiers successfully reclaimed the land until the end of the Civil War. Despite this, many individuals residing in the community experienced numerous hardships because many soldiers took the livestock they raised, the foods they stored, items that could be used for first aid purposes, and other necessities. It was then that the residents realized that they could experience a high level of fortune by selling the various types of minerals native to the region and the limestone heavily present in the area's geography. Not too long after experiencing success in this endeavor, the railway came to the region and offered more opportunities for the region. Many believe the activity stems from injuries, illnesses, and deaths, while the Old South Pittsburg Hospital serviced the community. Regardless of what has resulted in the paranormal activity, one thing is sure – this hospital is considered one of the most haunted places in Tennessee. Many paranormal investigators have conducted overnight ghost-hunting tours and acquired evidence indicating that something unusual is occurring in and around the structure. This evidence and the stories from locals, past employees, and others all point to the fact that this haunted hospital has many stories it wants to share. From https://osphprc.com/ ​ Investigator's Notes ​ Jennifer, Lead Investigator: Becky, Sarah, and I arrived at around 6 PM and took some outside exterior shots, met the hosts, and toured the building. We set up our base of operation for the night on the second floor. Sarah and I then set up stationary equipment in the maternity ward. Sarah set up a camera, and I set up a motion-activated light to see if anything triggered either piece of equipment. Areas of investigation: Nurse Betty's Station - The most activity for me seemed to be at Nurse Betty's station. We all heard several sounds, including hospital equipment or heart monitor noises from the ICU or elevators. Unfortunately, nothing was picked up on my audio, although all three of us experienced it. There was no power in this area. Morgue - All three of us spent individual time in the "body box" (morgue) and heard what sounded like movement coming from near the hallway. Jim's Area/Entrance/Cafeteria/Kitchen (Combined) – "Jim," a long-time caretaker and janitor of the hospital, tragically passed away in his room when the hospital was still in operation. His cause of death was from diabetic shock, not a drug overdose, as some websites state. We set up some motion-activated lights in the main hallway and kitchen to see if any movement could be picked up, and no audio recordings could pick up anything. At one point, we thought a motion-activated light had been triggered, but upon further investigation, it was figured out to be one of us coming into the vicinity of where it was. We were told Jim enjoyed music, mainly 70s rock, so we played some music. However, none of the motion-activated lights were triggered in any abnormal way, and we did not pick up any strange audio recordings at this time in any of these areas. Third Floor "Emergency" Experiment - We recreated a patient flat line on the third floor. During this time, Sarah saw movement in the hallway. Nurse Betty Station, visit #2 - Becky reported seeing a shower person at the end of the hall during the second visit. She said it seemed to be just standing there and watching. Sarah reported hearing sounds as well during this time. Nellie's Room - My experience in this room was calm and quiet. There is no audio EVPS or anything to report. It is a fascinating location! The hosts were so great and very kind! I look forward to going back.

URBAN LEGENDS CALIFORNIA - Whaley House by: Kelli Patrick The Whaley House is said to be the most haunted house in California. The U.S. Department of Commerce has listed the Whaley House as an authentic haunted house. The Whaley House is located in the historic Old Town area of San Diego. Built on the site of public gallows and the scene of several deaths, the Whaley House is home to several ghosts, one of which before the house was even built. In 1852, a man known as "Yankee Jim" Robinson was caught trying to steal a boat. He was beaten and taken to jail. ​ Jim had a trial and was to hang for his crime. Two of his possible accomplices were sentenced to prison. September 18, 1852 was his execution day. On the day of Jim's execution, he was barely conscious due to the beating and the lack of medical care he received. The sheriff gave the order for the executioner to pull the mule cart from underneath Jim. The executioners did not factor in Jim's height when constructing the gallows. Jim's toes scraped the ground and took approximately 45 minutes for Jim to slowly strangle to death. ​ Yankee Jim has stayed on at the house. People have heard him trudging around in his heavy boots upstairs. The gallows once stood where an archway between the music room and parlor now stands. Visitors have felt like they were being strangled while passing through the archway. ​ In 1869, the city leased a first floor room as a courthouse. A heavy iron chain in the room has been seen swinging by itself and several people have felt uneasy there. ​ In 1871, an angry mob held Anna Whaley at gunpoint on the 9th step of the stairs, while public records were removed. Thomas Whaley was out of town at the time. A chill in the air is reported there. The ghost of Thomas Whaley has been seen on the second floor landing dressed in a black coat and wide-brimmed hat. ​ In the music room, turn of the century songs, laughter are heard and the smell of cigar and the smell of perfume, which quickly disappear. A lamp in the music room has a couple of crystals that hang off the lamp. These have been seen moving, while the others are motionless. ​ Electric lights in the house go on and off by themselves. Inspections find nothing to explain this. The ground floor windows have been sealed to keep them from opening by themselves, setting off the alarm. ​ There is a little girl ghost that we believe is the granddaughter of Anna Whaley. She died in the dining room after accidentally ingesting some poison. When the Whaley's lived in the house the "kitchen" was actually outside just off the dining room. ​ Thomas Whaley, Jr. died at the age of 17 months in his upstairs bedroom. Cries of a baby have been reported coming from this room. The ghost of a small dog has been seen coming and going from this room. The dog has also been seen out in the yard. ​ At night, a figure has been seen peering out of the upstairs windows when everyone has gone home for the day. Things that have been reported upstairs are: curtains in many rooms moving by themselves when the windows are closed, beds and pillows have shown the impressions of someone having laid there, even though visitors cannot gain access to the rooms. A rocking chair has been seen rocking on its own. ​ The kitchen has been restored back to a dining room. Visitors can now enter that room. I have run into the little girl ghost there. She also hangs out in the back yard. ​ The electric lights have been restored back to kerosene lanterns and chandeliers. ​ The master bedroom upstairs is now a theatre and visitors can enter this area. ​ The family dog is Dolly.

A wine bottle came off of a wine rack, a bottle of cooking oil came off the top shelf of a baker's rack in the kitchen. Question: Any apports (things appearing out of nowhere)? They always end up in the same place on the kitchen floor and despite numerous attempts to replicate the effect, I have never been able to. Question: Any sounds? Answer: In the garage (directly beneath the kitchen) I have heard something hit the floor above me and bounce a few times (like a rubber ball, maybe). Checking upstairs shows nothing on the kitchen floor. Question: Any rappings or knockings? Answer: A cabinet door in the kitchen slamming during the night. Question: Any voices? What do they say? Answer: No. ​ Investigators Notes ​ Sevren Jacobs:The equipment I used for the night was an RCA digital audio recorder with an external microphone and a 35mm camera. I reviewed my audio files and photographs from the night and so far have not found any anomalies. However, everyone witnessed interesting activity on Becky's Gaussmaster almost immediately when I brought it into the kitchen. We checked out all of the surrounding appliances and possible electrical sources but were unable find a logical explanation for the readings on the EMF meter. It was quite interesting since the unknown "source" of the activity seemed to move around within the kitchen area and would even disappear completely at times. ​ Kelli Patrick:Equipment: Laser Thermometer, EMF detector, Nightshot video camera, 35mm camera. My camera was placed on the kitchen counter facing part of the dining room and part of the living room. Nothing abnormal found on video. My laser thermometer and EMF detector showed normal readings. We did witness unexplained activity/readings with Becky's EMF detector throughout the night. Interesting night! Becky Ray:Everyone present on this investigation observed very strange readings all night on my Gaussmaster in the kitchen. We did a complete search of the area and could not find any electrical sources that would cause this type of activity and fluctuations. The most interesting part was how the readings would seem to "respond" to our conversation and then completely vanish from the room only to return in a different location later. At this time I have not found anything out of the ordinary on my video, but I am still going over my still photos and listening to audio from the night. I have yet to find anything of note in my audio or video, but look forward to returning for further investigation. ​ Jennifer Sprague:On this investigation I brought my Audio Recorder and Note Pad. We started with a tour of the building and went through various locations of reported activity. After the tour we proceeded upstairs and started with an EVP session. During this session we also used an EMF pump and lazer grid to see if we could coorelate any activity/evp with pumping more electricity in the air as this is an idea we wanted to test. I am currently reviewing my audio and will post any findings that I may come across to our website soon. Im curious to see if boosting the EMF field helped generate any EVPS. I, myself, did not experience anything unusual during this investigation. There was a time where I thought that I had heard a door slam which was part of what kind of activity was reported, but could not definitively say it was distinctly a door slamming. There did seem to be some interesting things happening with the EMF pump during our EVP session. I would like to test this out more. Im also curious to see what other members of the group found as well. The history of this place was amazing and I look forward to posting any evidence as soon as I can. First we attempted table tipping for the first time. As expected, our results were basically nothing happening. We will continue to attempt this as continued sessions seems to improve the effect. Next we continued our experiments with blindfolded Ouija board users. Instead of using a standard board we used one that Lisa had made with many words and letters scattered throughout the board. At first it seemed to be confusing, but after we placed the board under a sheet of glass we had more movement. Unknown to the participants, except for myself and Jennifer, I was playing loud infrasound during the first half of the experiments. I don't know if it had a definite effect on anyone, however a few folks reported seeing "mists" and a handful reported a ringing in their ears. This method was used very much like how the Ouija board is used asking for a spirit or entity to move the table rather than spell out a word. We experienced nothing unusual during our trial. We also experimented again with blindfolding Ouija board participants and had some interesting experiences. We also unbeknownst to the rest of the group had infrasound playing which are undetectable to the human ear but is said to cause paranoia. We wanted to see if that caused anything questionable during our experiments. It was revealed after the experiments that the sounds were used. I look forward to attempting this again soon! I didn't have anything on my recorders. Hugh McLenaghan:There was only one thing that happened to me on this investigation. After being upstairs for quite a while with no activity, Becky's meter suddenly picked up high levels of electromagnetic readings at the exact same time I felt a strong pain in my back around the broken pallet lift. This stayed for about 5 minutes before going away. The EMF readings then dropped a little, but still stayed on the high side. Kelli Patrick:Equipment used: Nightshot video camera, Cell Sensor, thermometer, regular camera. No abnormal findings w/ equipment, except on video. About 30-40 minutes into the film, the lights in the warehouse were turned off. There is a snapping sound and feet shuffling off camera. This lasted approx. 30 minutes. No one was in the room at the time. We were all upstairs and couldn't be heard. A test was done to see if it was the lights making the popping, snapping noises, but it didn't happen. It is unexplained. No anomalies on regular camera film. Becky Ray:While we were upstairs, my Electromagnetic Frequency Meter went off at various times in the area that we were told an apparition of a man had been seen in. What struck me as odd about this was that it was not consistent in going off. Most of the time it did not, but when it did, it was a medium to strong signal. One photo I took of this area has an odd anomaly in it over Bryan's head. It appears to be something bright and reflective. I have another photo I took of that same area that shows nothing there that is reflective. Also during our investigation, after being upstairs for quite a while with no activity, my meter suddenly picked up high levels of electromagnetic readings at the exact same time Hugh felt a pain in his back around the broken pallet lift. This then remained at high readings for the remainder of the night. This could mean that either something suddenly became active, or perhaps something was blocking my meter from getting a reading from the pallet lift, and then whatever was blocking it left. It is open for interpretation. We ran a digital camera and took several photos (also digital) watched a video of The Black Dahlia and promptly all fell asleep. I actually look forward to watching the video for this investigation, because we were particularly goofy and having a good time, and am eager to see if that has any effect on what turns up, evidence-wise. I tend to think that if I was a spirit, I would seek out groups of people with strong, positive energy, and if that's the case, we should have attracted all kinds of stuff that night. Heh!!! Many thanks to them for the opportunity to lead these investigations! The house seemed less active than usual during this evening. It may have been due partially to the deadly grain elevator explosion in Atchison at the beginning of the night. We didn't know what had happened at the time, but we all heard the boom and felt the house shake. During the investigation I set up the laser grid in the living room. At one point it looked as if someone else with a green laser was shining a dot on the ceiling. We all saw it move irrationally and independently from the grid. I'm not sure what may have caused this. ALTHOUGH, at the end of the night it was discovered that someone in the group had purposely re-arranged letters in the nursery and moved a stuffed animal to give the impression that something paranormal had happened. It was obviously a hoax, although no one owned up to it, so I'm curious as to if maybe someone was also playing a trick on us with their own laser pointer. One thing that happened with each group as we moved through the house was anyone that sat in one area of the dining room experienced unexplained itching and/or extreme cold. I checked the area and the actual temperature around those chairs was the same as the rest of the room, however everyone that sat there had this experience. I hope I am able to continue doing more investigations at this location, as each time I go it seems something different takes place. ​ Question: When did the phenomena start?
